But gold is not collected at the end of the mission.

You'll notice that, in cinematics, you'll hear the 'coin drop sound' when the camera goes back to a place where gold was left behind.

I would agree as long as minipet work just like the unclaimed items window.

THat is, if you don't pick the items next time you get to an outpost, you lose them.

Just ask Mahk the toy maker to tweak them to gather some stuff. He was able to magically change all the Varesh miniatures all over the world, after all.
Yes, that's actually a very good idea. They could implement rules that minipets only pick up gold, as well as possibly gold items and green items. That way people get their gold and their items without running around being paranoid ^^

Yeah that is a good point. I'm sure the majority of people will have 2K to spare in order to buy a mini piggie. Who knows, maybe ANet will give out more free ones on special occasions. Problem solved

I like the idea. I mean in all honesty I don't think ANet _doesn't_ want us to pick up our drops. The only flaw I could think of is perhaps this would allow someone to pick up items without aggroing groups. (But since items remain, one could easily say that this is just speeding up what one would do after taking out the mob.)

Besides, I'd love to see my mini-troll running after me with troll tusks in arm!

Title convincing enough, didn't read full description.
Yes, this is a good idea and the Gods should consider it.
Prepare the sacrificial lamb.

What do you mean the's no lamb? What do you mean the Gods put me on ignore? I gotta send them 20 more messages.

Please... new players at a disadvantage? Just go to town and say "WTB Mini Pig 2k" and you will probably get a good 80 whispers.

That is actually very true. One of the previous posters said that the Guild Wars box says the game promotes a player's skill, not time spent playing. Having our minipets collecting loot can save a lot of time better spent doing something else

this sounds like a good idea but i think this might have problems.
1. obviously people would complaining about not getting a minipet without buying the NF collectors or actually playing a whole year.
2. those who want to buy minipets would suddenly see a huge rise in price of minis (althought i really do want the dragon minipet but so expensive :/)
3. i think if you want to make the minipets useful have then search for chest. like if you have the key to the area and you're getting close to a chest say just right outside earshot then it should make a sound and sortof run toward the chest. there are times when i've missed a few chest because i didn't see it :/ just my idea

Thanks for the reply

In response,

1. I understand where you are coming from, but there are many other circumstances where people can complain about things being unfair. For example, "why can't maximum armour be available to completely new characters?" etc. The answer is obvious, because you don't need it. I don't think a new player will have any need for a minipet, because they don't receive as much loot as higher level characters, and their missions aren't as demanding (meaning if they are going for Master's picking up loot won't be a problem). A solution to this, though, could be the distribution of a free "rubbish" mini. It could be like mini pigs are at the moment, only every character will receive one to "aid them in their journey." This way all is kept fair, and the people who own other minis will have a little more bragging rights too

2. Minipets were originally intended to be a reward for veterans of the game. I don't think the prices of them should be a major factor (unless my solution gives in "1" isn't implemented), because they would all do the same job, some would just look better doing it ^^

3. I like the idea of the chest It sounds like it could be useful too

I can see negatives of the players who do not have minis but its not that hard to get a mini and its not like this is that big of a change. It saves people time and makes missions go more smoothly.

perhaps a setting

Mini-pet
gathers: ___ Gold Only
___ High End Loot/Gold
___ All items

If the idea of minis gathering takes off a slot in inventory like cape/headgear that lets you keep mini out while adventuring and not have to activate it would be nice.

Yes those options sound perfect...just a "Do not collect loot" option would need to be added

Maybe as long a one person had a mini pet it would pick up everyones loot and sort it to the correct person at end of play or move to city. That way if you get quitters they would loose their stuff it would be sorted randomly between remaining party members. Kill two striders with one stone.

I like that idea! You quit, you lost out :P The only problem I can see though, is that if someone gets disconnected and can't reconnect (happened to me a few times), they lost their loot lol.
